Long Form Bio

“Tell me a story!” I used to beg my parents at night before bed.

From the time I was young, even though I taught myself how to read at the tender age of four years old, I’ve loved listening to stories and telling my own.

I liken my variable interests–from hobbies to career paths–to past lives.

In my first past life, I was an artist and author, and a prolific one at that. I created my own comic books–fully scripted and illustrated–and I loved to play the violin in string orchestra. I was devoted to fantasy and science fiction, enamored with the works of Arthur C. Clarke, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Anne McCaffrey, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, and many more. I found inspiration in the blue blur and a herd of colorful ponies, miring myself in their fantastic worlds to this day through my creations.

In another past life, I was a biologist. I was fascinated with the animal kingdom, in particular with the so-called “terrible lizards,” and how they grew feathers, wings and ascended into birds. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from CSULB to show for this passion.

In yet another past life, I was a geologist turned dinosaur paleontologist. I was privileged enough to excavate a Diplodocus-type dinosaur out of the ground in Utah well over a decade ago–twice. I also visited two outstanding museums in China that housed delicately preserved birds with blunt teeth, immense, albatross-like wings, and gastroliths in their guts–all for my Master’s thesis. In completing these studies, I’ve earned my Master’s Degree in Geology from CSULB.

I currently specialize as an Earth science educator, serving the communities of Cypress and Santa Ana in Southern California. My passion for public speaking and sharing my complex technical knowledge of ancient life on Earth to diverse audiences combine to create engaging learning experiences. I have over 15 years of experience in delivering both synchronous and asynchronous content in the virtual and physical classroom.

I bring innovation to all my current creative projects. My first self-published novel, Iara’s Crossing, blends a compelling narrative with intense emotional stakes and fantastic world-building.

I enjoy weaving tech driven experiences with my expertise in various art forms to develop new ways of problem solving, create awesome things and provide unforgettable experiences with clients all over the world.

I currently live in Orange County, California with my chatty cat, Mochi.

I still enjoy telling stories–I have many left to share. I hope you’ve enjoyed visiting my website, and I’m here whenever you need to spin a yarn or two.
